Since the start of the year I have been making Scratch projects to work towards my technology badge. So once I had finished 5 of the projects I started to make my own project. I called it sharky!
You are the shark and your aim is to eat all the fish you can.
Here it is
Hope you liked it:)

Wonder - Chapter Chat
At the end of term three Room 18 started to read the book Wonder and we are doing another Chapter Chat on it. Chapter Chat is where we make activities and answer questions and then post them on Twitter. I have made some activities on Wonder so here they are.
Thanks for viewing:)
This is my first activity. It is a poster saying you should not judge a boy by his face and what the saying means.
This is my second activity. It is a picture of my favourite Star Wars character R2-D2.
Thanks for viewing:)

Animal Report
Last term all of Jackson's Studio made an animal report on any animal of our choice. I chose the Siberian tiger because it is my favourite animal. I made it by first planning it on a doc called information report note taking. I made on a website called Thinglink.

Holes Chapter Chat activities
Each fortnight we completed various activities and answered questions based on what we had read. We then shared our activities and answers on Twitter with Room 20.
Here are two activities that I have completed on the book Holes.
My first activity is a survival shoe. The shoe was made on Google Drawings and I uploaded images of what I wanted to be on the activity. The shoe has spikes so that you can climb up rock faces.
The second activity is a wanted poster for Kate Barlow. I did this one with Max and we also made it on Google Drawing. My favourite bit of it is the face that Max made.
I hope you enjoyed my activities. Which one was your favourite?

Zentangle Calendar Art
This term we have been busy finishing our calendar art. Each year at our school we do a piece of art that can go on calendars, diaries or cards. Our parents can then buy these for gifts, if they choose. This year our class did our calendar art around the theme Zentangle.
First we looked at different Zentangle patterns and then we practised drawing these patterns in our art book, before doing our good copy.
Here is my finished calendar art for 2017.
Leave me a comment to let me know what you think of my art.

Robot Art
Over the last term and a bit we have been doing different pieces of robot art for our school’s Art Exhibition later in the term. Here is my stick robot art. This is how I made it, I first planned it. Then I glued it with hot glue. Next we spray painted it and lastly I added all of the beads and the googly eyes. The things I used were ice block sticks, hot glue, blue and green beads. It took me about 3 days to make.
I hope you enjoy my robot artwork. Have you ever done any robot art?

PowToon book report
We have been learning how to create a book report with PowToon. I have made my animated book report on Ms Bixby's Last Day. Ms. Bixby's Last Day was our serial story in Term 2 that we read as part of Chapter Chat. The book was written by John David Anderson.
I
Hope you enjoy my PowToon book report. Have you read Ms Bixby’s Last Day?

Chapter Chat
For the last term we have been doing Chapter Chat. We are doing it with all about 50 classes in New Zealand that are year 5 - 6. Chapter Chat is where we have activities and questions that we have to do, we have to do at least one of the activities and answer all the questions. Then on Fridays we go on Twitter and answer all of the questions and share our activities. Here are some of my Chapter Chat activities. I made the fact poster with my friend and I did the headstone and the character description by myself.
This is a fact poster for the inland Taipan. One of the most venomous snakes in the world.
This is a headstone for Ms Bixby. Her full name is Margaret Eleanor Bixby.
This is a character description for Topher. He is one of the main characters in the book.
I hope you like them. Which one was your favourite activity?

Camp Poem
From Wednesday 17th May to Friday 19th May we went on camp to Spencer Park. Some of the things we did were: saving the sand dunes, Adrenalin Forest, orienteering, forest survivor, spotlight and playing on the playground. My highlight from camp was Adrenalin Forest. Here is my camp poem where I have used my senses to describe the best things I did on camp.
Remember when
Remember when we were at the beach and we had to create a mini sand dune?
Remember when we played spotlight and we did not get found?
That was my 2017 camp to Spencer Park.
Remember when we played David, Richard in the morning and Kyle bumped into the wall?
Remember when we went to forest survivor so we could make bivouac shelters?
That was my 2017 camp to Spencer Park
Remember when we did orienteering, we won because we ran ahead?
Do you remember when we did Adrenalin Forest and I just about completed Level 2?
That was my 2017 camp to Spencer Park
I hope you enjoyed my poem. What was your highlight from going on camp?

Multiplication Strategies
Last week our class was doing some problem solving. We were learning how to solve multiplication problems by using different strategies.
Here is one of my questions that I solved with my maths mate.
Louis was practising his football shooting, so that he could get some goals on Friday for Winter Sport. He practiced at night on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Each night he shot 29 goals. How many goals did Louis shoot in total?
I have decided to use the strategies place value and rounding and compensating.
Here is my place value strategy:
3 x 29 = ?
/\
20 9
3 x 20 = 60
3 x 9 = 27
60 + 27 = 87
Here is my rounding and compensating strategy:
3 x 29 = ?
+(3 x 1) = 33 x 30 = 90
90 - 3 =87
I hope you learnt a different way to solve a multiplication problem.

Red Rocks Diorama
Last term for Home Learning we constructed Red Rocks Dioramas to show our understanding of the novel we read "Red Rocks". At the end of last term we bought our creations to school and we enjoyed sharing them with our class and other Legend classes. My scene shows when Jake is fishing with his dad just before they got lost out at sea. The things I used to make my diorama were: blu-Tack, paint, paper and pens.
Here is a photo of my finished Red Rocks diorama.

Show Me video
In Jackson's Studio on Friday we learnt about the iPad app Show Me. Show Me is where you turn your iPad into an interactive whiteboard! It allows you to record voice-over whiteboard tutorials and share them online. It's an amazingly simple app that anyone can use! We have been using Show Me to record how we solved various maths problems.
Take a look at my Show Me video below, where I have created a video on how solve addition problems using the strategy of rounding and compensating.
I hope you learned something. Do you have another strategy for this question?

Poetry Anthology
This term Jackson’s Studio has been writing lots of different poems. Over the last week we have been publishing our poems on a website called Storybird. On Storybird we turned our poems into a book called Poetry Anthology, because an anthology is a collection of poems
Here is my book which my haiku, diamante, acrostic and two sense poems. Can you guess which poem is which?
I hope you enjoyed reading my poems. What one was your favourite?

Maths problem solving
Last week we did some maths problem solving with our maths mates. This is the question:
Jamison has been saving up for a new app. He has $143 in his wallet and the game costs $129 how much will he have left over?
My first strategy is equal adjustments:
Jamison has been saving up for a new app. He has $143 in his wallet and the game costs $129 how much will he have left over?
My first strategy is equal adjustments:
143 - 129 =
+ 1 + 1
144 - 130 = 14
My second strategy is reversibility:
143 - 129 = ?
129 + ____ = 143
129 + 1 = 130
130 + 13 = 143
1 + 13 = 14

Holiday Challenge
HOLIDAY CHALLENGE
At the start of term we did a holiday challenge. The challenge involved using our senses and writing about them. This is my one for jumping off rocks into a lake.
At the start of term we did a holiday challenge. The challenge involved using our senses and writing about them. This is my one for jumping off rocks into a lake.
I heard Max counting down from ten.
I heard my dad telling me not to stick out my tongue.
I saw how high I was on the rocks.
I felt the strong wind blowing against my cold face.
I felt the warm rocks on my cold feet.
I wondered how deep the water was underneath me.
I wondered if I would be able to jump.
